MEETING- OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of tho Weliington Bed Cross. Committee was held in the Mercer Street depot yesterday .-afternoon. As it ■ was the first meeting of the new committee vTuch. had. been, appointed-at the annual meeting held a short time ago the. first, business to. bo. dealt with was the appointment of a chairman, which resulted in Mr. T. Yoiirvg being reappointed, with Miss Sybil Nathan again secretary, Miss Nathan stipulating, however, .that she. could act in , that capacity ■ only till Christmas,'' Leave of absence was granted to Mrs. Pearce and Mr., Shirtcliffe. A letter which had been received by His. Excellency the Governor-General from-the'.Hon.'E. Heaton Ithodcs was read at the meeting, in which the writer stated that Lady Hell had resigned from the London Reel Cross Committee owing to the fact that sho'ivas leaving for New Zealand, and expressed, appreciation of her services. The matter of electing delegates to the New Zealand Council was discussed, and it was decided to allow a month'for the sending in of nominations, tho election to bo hold tho. following month. . A report was received from Miss Ewan and Miss Moncklon of matters in connection with the Red. Cross 'Soldiers' Club at Military. Hospital.. It 'was .resolved that the thanks of ..the commit'tee bo forwarded'thoni for w ; hat..they..had already- achieved., • • •-,••' . A, matter'which .-.received tho .attention of.the meeting, was-that of. tho provision of greater comfort at (ho Limb Factory for the ..nieu.-who.were, there awaiting fittings. Sometimes they had to wait for some, considerable, time, and tho. committee was of the opinion that it was. desirable that heating apparatus should bo installed, more, chairs provided, and also literature to pass the time away whilo waiting... A committee, consisting of Mrs. l'irth, Mr. Holmes, and Mr. Voitch, to 'confer with.'.tho officer in charge .in regard to. theso matters,' was. appointed. A letter .was received from the matron' of the Miramar- Hospital asking if tho committee's.".grant of .£3O, a month could not be supplemented* by., another .'£1.0..n5 when the hospital was' ftill - the, money .was'.not. sufficiont to supply all. the. ..comforts that were needed. , it was decided to., add JilO ..monthly to' the grant.
