WAR LOAN

VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTIONS. Discussing the present position of the last Victory War Loan of ten millions, the Hon. Arthur Myers, Acting-Minister of Finance, stated that since his notification in November last that the Treasury were prepared to accept voluntary subscriptions, an average of ,£400,000 per month had been received, so that up to the present time nearly two and a half millions hud been subscribed. "The Treasury Department are still prepared to accept amounts," said the Minister, "but, of course, the compulsory clauses will be brought into operation' should it bo found that taxpayers are not subscribing according to the amounts specified in the Finance Act."
