, SCHEME RECOMMENDED FOB " HAWKE'S BAT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Napier, June 10. At to-day's meeting of the Hawke's Hay Rivers Board the report of the engineers appointed to suggest methods of flood prevention for ■ Hawke's . Bay (Messrs. J. E. Fulton, MiS.C.E., F. W. Furkert. A.M.S.C.E., and F. C. Hoy, A.M.S.C.E.) was received. The report •recommended' that the Tutaekuri River bo diverted from Meanec to, the' 6ea by way of W T aitangi.' With regard to, Ngaruroro, the engineers provide a comprehensive scheme-for improving the existing chnimel. II is estimated that the net cost to the 'board of the land required for the work recommended will be .£30,000. and that the scheme will necessitate the expenditure of .£132,000.
