PUKEMIRO COAL STRIKE
CONDITIONS ON WHICH THK MINEKS WILL KESUME. By TeleKraph—Press Association. Auckland, ,Juno 10. The 'dispute between the management and tho miners engaged at tho Pukemiro coal mines, near Huntly, was advanced a further stage, when the Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. Harlo Giles, met the. president and secretary of tho Pukemiro Miners' Union. The district representative of tho Miners' Federation was also present. After a discussion of oyer two hours with tho union representatives, conditions upon which tho miners we're prepared . to resume work were drawn up as follow:—"(1) Wo agree that our workmen's inspectors, along with the local Government. inspector, shail make an inspection of the workings under dispute, in accordance with the telegram, received by tho Conciliation Commissioner from the. Minister of Labour setting forth the views of the Minister of Mines and himself, and if any kind of gases, either nox'ous or inflammable, be found, tho same shall at once-bo removed by. ventilation before work. is resumed, and in future tho rights of check inspectors, under clause •18 of the Act, bo not infringed. (2) Oil an undertaking being given that the conditions laid down in clause 1 hereof will bo complied with; we, the undersigned officers of the Pukemiro Miners Union, •ire prepared to recommend members of tfie union W resume work." Mr. Harle Giles, who has telegraphed the terms of tho agreement to the Minister of Labour, will submit the .conditions to the directors of the Pukemiro Collenes.
