At to-night's meeting of the Christohurch Town-planning Association a- resolution was carried urging upon the Government the necessity for pronn.it action being taken in an endeavour to overcome the existing luck of decent houses at a reasonable rental, and for tho purpose a comprehensive Town-planning Bill should ho made a matter of urgency at next session of' Parliament. Mr. L. 11. Isitt, M.P.. said he vim thoroughly in sympathy with the motion, but there was as much possibility, ot town-planning legislation being considered next session as there was of going to the moon. The Mayor outlined.a scheme ho had evolved for the establishment of a garden suburb in a block.of Ifi acres, which was under offer to.the City Council, fie, hoped a settlement, would be laid out on tho block 16.: house the returned soldiers who were unable to secure housing accommodation.
