FIRE IN pALMERSTON

Clark and Companv's (painters and decorator*! promises beiris completely gutted. The fire started in a storeroom at the rear, and aided by the inflammable stocks spread rapidly. The adjoiniwr buildings, the- Occidental stables, and Hodgson and Gabriel s, wine and spirits merchants, were saved by the splendid efforts of the fire brigade The origin of the fire is unknmvn. Ihe stock is valued at .07500, and ihe estimated damage is JMSOO. The "trances are' Stock, London and Lancashire, -£500; Standard, .£1250; Commercial Union, ,£1250. The building was insured in (he Phoenix office for .£IOOO.
