HUTT RIVER BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Hutt River Board was held last evening. Present: Messrs. Baldwin (chairman), Knight, Kennedy, and Bowers. A motion of condolence with JLj\ B. V. Bunny in the loss sustained by the denth of his son was carried in silence. The matron of the Anglican Boys' Home wrote thanking the board for firewood.- *■ The report of the overseer staled that' the usual repair works had been carried out daring the mouth. The clearing of logs from the river at Gear Island had been almost; completed. In company with Mr. Knight ho' had made a tour of inspection of places suitable for sow r ing trees, and had finally decided to sow a line of guni trees across the stop-bank near Gear Island. ' Regarding the proposed purchase- of a motor lorry, it was stated that a suitable lorry had lx>cn offered. The river had been low all Ihe month, ami the protective- works wore in good order.
