The appointment of a bacteriologist for 1 service with the Government Dairy Di- ! vision was urged at the North Auckland : Dairy Conference by Mr. T. Bassett, • representing the Northern Wairoa Dairy ! Company, who sai'd that his company, ' in the courso of experiments in by-pro- ; ducts, had to send a sample to America ' for a report. The conference agreed : that an industry producing foodstuffs to : the value of i8,000,00A annually wnr- ; ranted the appointment of a- bacteriolo- : gist, especially as greater attention was :. being given to the 'question of public health. It was essential that dairy factory managers should have the advanall the scientific knowledge which : could be placed at their disposal.
