DAY'S BAY

MEETING OF RATEPAYERS' ASSOCIATION. L The Day's Buy Ratepayers' Association held its annual general meeting on Saturday evening. Mr. J. B. Finlay presided in the absence of the chairman, Mr. D. M. Findlay (indisposed). The animal Teport, which Was adopted, showed that the association had been very active during the past year in its efforts to improve local conditions. The need for renewing action to obtain a better drainaeo and water supply system was em-, phasised. It was announced that as the result of the association's repeated representations the Hntt County Council had ordered lamps for use In the Bay district. A quantity of metal had already been spread on the roads, and it was understood that the'work would be completed shortly. ■ Namo plates had been erected at road corners. As it wns felt that the district was not receiving a satisfactory return for the amounts of rates paid to the county council, the incoming committee was recommended to consider the advisability

(1) Forming a, town board at Day's Bay, or . (2) Linking up with, the city, or (3) Amalgamating with the Eastbourne Borough. ' . . , , ~ ~ The' committee is to report the result of its inquiries at a special meeting of residents to be called for the purpose. The association decided to renew its request for a shelter shed on the Day s Bay Wharf. A subcommittee was appointed to meet the Eastbourne Borouch Council to discuss matters of mutual interest, particularly the question of the appointment of a local medical ypractitioner. ' , . y , , The following executive was elected:— Chairman, Mr. A. W. Blair; committee, Messrs. E. H. Anderson, C. W. Budd, H. Coull, J. B. Finlay, F. M. Martin, T. Maver, F. W. Oaklev, S. L. Partridge, F J.'Pinny, A. W. Press, and J. W. Walker; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr J. C. Redmond (re-elected). Mr. D. M. Findlay, who is lending Diiv's Bay, waa warmly thanked by resolution for the many valuable _ services rendered by hiin, since the inauguration of the association.
