BOXING AT TRENTHAM CAMP

SEMI-FINALS AND FINALS. The semi-finals and finals of the boxing tournament lor tlic sixth, cour.se ot iustruction were held in the Church of England Institute at Trenthaiu Camp on Wednesday evening. The preliminaries for this tournament were held on the previous Monday, when over 70 bouts were got off in under three hours. The number of entries received was 123, a record for the camp. The. compeiicors came from all parts of the Dominion, and representatives of -schools found themselves opposing each other for the first time in tho history of the school, Thanks to- the excellent organisation, which was in the hands ot Captain Brocks, M.C., assisted mainly by members of the Physical Training Staff, the evening went, without a hitch. Tho officials were as follow:—Referee, Captain Crawford, N.Z.M.C.; timekeepers, Lieutenant JJavies, M.0., Captain Brocks; judges, Major!);'W. 'X'albot and Captain Luckham. Among tho many present were Major Sweetzer and Lieut.Colonel Blair, D.S.O. In the semi-finaU the bouts were of two rounds each, of 11 minutes' duration, while in the'finals three rounds of the same- time neru the ordeV. Tho boxing was good, and some excellent bouts were witnessed. Some of the competitors lacked science, particularly in the matter of guarding, but '.nis fault was mainly confined to the ligiiii!" classes. • The final for the welter-weight, biUmi Sgt.
