ONSLOW PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION
. -4 MEETING AT KHANDALLAH. A largely attended meeting of Onslow residents was held in the- Kliandalliili Hall last evening. Mr. J. C. Smith .occupied the chair, and explained that a meeting had'been held a fortnight previously with the object of forming Mi association for the purpose of developing to the fullest extent this portion of Wellington city. At the previous meeting a preliminary committee had been formed, and its 'recommendations were nonput, forward. .Sir. Smith dwelt on tlio beauty of Onslow, and said that he. thought residents did not fully appreciate the splendid suburb they possessed. The object of the association was (o make for greater progress in the district, by advocating necessary- public works, and an efficient administration of municipal affairs, and geuordlfjr to protect the interests of electors;''l'lic association would also endeavour ■ to create and foster a healthy public spirit, in all questions affecting the welfare of' Greater Wellington, and particularly in regard to the affairs of Onslow. Mr. A. E. Budd considered that wliilo there should be a united association it would be advisable to have a good working committee in each part of the district, and to have a central executive of members for any necessary works.
Other speakers spoke in a similar strain, and the chairman and other members pointed out the benefit of having ono united association.
It was finally decided that a united association should ' be . formed and . thai' meetings should be: held at Ngaio and Khandallah to collect reports for these portions of the district. Captain C. M'Arthur was elected president of the association, Mr. P. T. Hodgson secretary, and Mr. Hobbs treasurer. Mr. If. E. Anderson was elected vice-president for Khamlallnh. Messrs. Worfold and J. G. Smith were appointed, as the Khandallah eonimfittee., In respect to Ngaio it was decided to elect a committee later on, and a sub-commit-tee was set up to make (he necessary arrangements.
