A BANKRUPT PASTRYCOOK
. $ . MEETING OF CREDITORS ADJOURNED AGAIN. The adjourned meeting of creditors in the estate of Alfred Kean, pastrycook, was held in the Official Assignee's offices yesterday morning. Tho adjournment had been made to give time for the bankrupt to prepare a nioro satisfactory etateineiit of takings and disbursements lhau that which he li&'d first submitted. Banknipt had sworn that he had no assets. It, appeared yesterday that no statement beyond that previously published had been furnished. The Official Assignee, Sir. S. Tonsley, said that so far as ho could make out the bankrupt's takings over fourteen montns' trailing had been about ,£2OOO. Hβ had paid in wages .£521, and in rent .£IOO. The difference between takings and disbursements, therefore, appeared to have been <(;1379. What had become of the ■£1379, the Assignee could not suggest. Jiean had prepared nothing at all for the meeting. A creditor: Did you ever make a statement to anyone that if .-you ever went bankrupt you would take good cute to feather your nest before anything happened? Kean: Not that I am aware of. Another creditor: I don't thiifc the bankrupt realises the seriousness of his position. Kean promised that if given more time lie would present u statement showing all tho particulars of iiis business. Tho creditors were agreed that unless tho matter-was satisfactorily-cleared up Kean would have to ba publicly examined in the Bankruptcy Court. Tho meeting was again adjourned, this time till June 5.
