KARORI BOROUGH. AFFAIRS
MEETJNG OF THE COUNCIL. Tho Mayor (Mr. B. G. H. Burn) presided at the fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council held last evening. There were present:—Councillors B L. Tingey, J. C. Fulton, E. Harrison, T. A. Muut, J. W. Henderson, L. G. Porter, P. P. Laurcnson, J Burns, and J. Caughley. The No. 3 bridge. South Karori, whifh was 'considerably damaged, by a. motorlorry, has been rewired at a cost of £U, and it is possible that there may be pome litigation 'over tms matter. It was resolved to accord support, to the resolution submitted by the Uisborne Borough Council, which was as follows:— "That a remit he sent to the conference of the Municipal Association urging that owing to dissatisfaction at elections that when tho municipal rolls arc being prepared the names of all -borough residents l appearing on tho Parliamentary roll then in force should bo placed upon «l he municipal roll without separate application having to bo made for enrolment, <ind that necessary alteration in tbe (statutes be made to embody this provision." Air. W. Skegg wrote directing tlie attention of the council to the formation of the West urn Suburbs Tramway Extension League, which was formed on Monday evening, and urging the council "to takYimmcdialo steps to .place before tho City Council its viows on the subject to try and secure a promise that no extension be carried out. that will not connect with the Karori tram at the tunnel or thereabouts. The position of Karori should he strengthened by the fact that (lie City Council has several times promised to co-operate in providing it with a shortor route." The letter was referred to the Tramway Committee.
