At the last meeting of the Dannovirke Borough C'ouncii, Councillor Drummond proposed that a poll bo taken to raise dE15,003 for improvement of roads and footpaths. After considerable discussion tho matter was referred to the Works Committee to report on. ' The estimates as adopted provided for a revenuo Uf •C 7115.'
•Since it commenced operations in March last tho Dannevirke Repatriation Committee has paid in loans to returned soldiers.
( A- gift shop, in oharge of Mesdames Giesen and Lloyd, is being organised at Dannevirko in aid of the Dr. Barnado Homos.
The Dannevirke Association at its annual meeting elected the following officers:—Patron, Mr. J. Carston; president, Mr. W. Knell; vice-presidents, Dr.-Mules, Messrs. P. 0. Clark, W. Di<snkwatcr, E. Harding,/and J. Baglcy; chairm&n, Mr. W. J. Woods; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. J. Webber; Appointment Committee, Messrs. J. Setford, 11. 0. Walker, and A. J. AVcbber; delegate to Dannevirke sub-union, Mr. C. Price.
Mrs. W. A. Boagley, ■ wife of Mr. William Boagley, well known in musical circles, died at Pahiatua last week, after u long illness.
