THE IRISH QUESTION
MOTION IN BRITISH PARLIAMENT
SELF-DETERMINATION URGED (By Telegtiaph-Press Association-Copyright London, May 15 (delayed). Mr. V. Hurtshoni, in the House of Commons, moved a resolution condemning the military rule iu Ireland, and urged the Government to grant self-gov-ernment and self-determination. Mr. Cavondish Beutinck supported tho motion. He said he had completely changod his opinion.- He believed that if tho Government threw the responsibility on the people of Ireland to manago their alfairs thov would develop a national individuality, which would result in contentmont and tho best-governed community in the Empire. The Chief Secretary was engaged in a mere scufflo with the Irish people. Mr. J. 1. Macpherson (Chief Secretary) said that tho Government had dealt with enormous patience with the Irish-Ameri-can delegation. The Government was anxious to find a solution. Ireland today was more prosporo.ns than any other country in the world. Constitutionalism must bo. revived.The Government could not parley with the Sinn Fein, which was endeavouring to disrupt the Empire.—Aus.-N.SS. Cable Assn. MASKED HOLD-UP IN LIMERICK. London, May 15 (delayed). Twenty masked men held up a jiassenger train at n wayside station in Limerick Countv. They rescued a Sinu Fein prisonor, killed one policeman, and severely wounded another.
