THE MANUKA .FROM SYDNEi*. On Saturday tlio Union Company was advised that .tho Manuka loft Sydney Heade at 11 a.m. oil FriSay for Wellington. It is expected that she will arrive early to-morrow morning. The vessel is bringim* about 2000 tons of cargo and no passengers. Her ontward movements from' Wellington have not been deilnitely arranged.

LOUIS THERIAULT MOM MELBOURNE.

The three-masted schooner Louis Theriault, 385 tons. Captain Gould, arrived at Wellington late last liiclit from Melbourne. Sho is laden with phosphates and is twenty-four days out from the 'Victorian port. The Loiiis Theriaull dropped anchor about two miles oil' the Heads at 3 p.m. yesterday, and after the Karaka had put a pilot on board tho stranger tho Union Company's tug Terawhiti went out and towed her into port.

THE WESTMORELAND.

In connection with tho .damage to the large steamer Westmoreland it lias been loarned that the Blulf Harbour Board's ■pilot was in charge at the time of her striking the Channel Hock. The work of discharging the vessel went on all day on Friday, and since the time of arrival at Duuedin she has lifted about 15 inches. Tho cargo taken from her. is being clistributed amongst the various stores in Port Chalmers, but as yet no arrangement has been come to with regard to tho accommodation of the frozen iiii&U. The bilgo pumps still continue to pour out «. great uunjitity of water, but no further leakage has been noticed.

It is probable that it -will (alee about a week to carry out tho work, but this course has been adopted owinc to the Ecarnity: of suitable railway trucks and other facilities, otherwise the Harbour Board could- have taken the ballast for the reclamation -grounds. The Carpentaria will then put back to Lyttelton in order to load between 40,000 aiid 50,000 carcasses of mutton. It is understood that the motor tra-wlei Silver Fern, to Timaru, which has been engaged in trawlin? out of Otago Harbour for some time past, will shortly be converted into a steam trawler. Tho Silver Fern was built by Miller Bros, at Port Chalmers about four years aero, ami ias been'very successful in the fishinc business.

Overseas steamers' movements at Wellington oij Saturday were of Papaim from Home, and lonic from Duncdm and Lyttolton; departure of Port .Sydney for London, via Panama, and Haranga. for Gisborne. The Blackball steamer Ngahero will Bail 10-nißht for Greymouth. Cargo for that port and Hokitika will bo received till 3 p.m.
