PROTESTANT POLITICAL ASSOCIATION
' ANNUAL COUNCIL. The annual Council of the Prolestant \ Political Association met in the Esperanto Hall yesterday. Representatives were present irom nil parts of the Dominion. The president (Mr. A. Donald) presided, and delivered the presidential "address", oxpressing pleasure at the termination of the war, and. the approaching conclusion, of the terms of peace. Tho work of the p : year was reviewed, and the policy for, the incoming year outlined. The thanks of the council were accorded to the president'for his address. The national lecturer, the Bcv. How. ard Elliott, reported on his successful organisation during the past year. Notwithstanding the epidemic and other interferences, the association had more than doubled its membership during tho year. Tho result of local elections forded evidence of tho weight of 1 tlm P.P.4., whilst the influence of the asso-; cintion had succeeded in driving a wedga between sane loyal Labour and the disJ , loyal'extremists. The P.P.A., having a large enrolment of loyal unionists, thn prospects were optimistically stated. Tho demandfi for organisation were difficult to meet, notwithstanding that eight organisers were at' work. Tho lecturer received the thanks of tho council for his services, and-was con-, gratnlated upon the success of tho association. ' ' '
The treasurer's statement and balancesheet were presented and fully discussed, and proposnls made to develop the fman. cial strength. The council adjourned till to-day; •
