The Management Committee of tho Mnnnwatu Rugby Union met at Palmer, ston North on Monday nitfht. Following on the report of the referee (Mr. H. E. Bennett) in tho Huia-Pirates match last Saturday, it was decided to warn a certain spectator off any grounds (mder the jurisdiction of the union during its pleasure, for having made use of insulting and bud, language. After some, discussion it was decided that in the event /of one club havini; two teams playing iu the same grndo that the "A" team be allowed to draw upon "B" team's players, but that "A" team's players ba not allowed to play in the "B" team without permission of the union. It wn9 decided to approach the Horowiienua, AVanganui, Hawko's Bay, and Wairarapa mi ions with regard lo representative matches .to be held later on in tho season. The following fixtures were arranged foinext Saturday:—Senior: Feikling v. Awaliuri, at Awahuri; AVestern United v. Pirates A. Nt Showgrounds, Palmerston (3 p.m.); High School v. Pirates B. Showgrounds (at I! p.m.); Huia. a bye. Junior: Kia Toa v. Feilding, at Feilding; Awahuri v. Ashhurst, Showgrounds; Western United v. Huia, High School grounds, Palmerston. Third Grade: High School A v. Western United, Showgrounds (1.30 p.m.); High School B v. Primary Schools, Showgrounds (1.30 p.m.). The Palmerston North High School Board and Technical School Committee met on Monday night. In connection with the agricultural work of the Technical School the committee set up reported in favour of securing teal acres of borough reserve on Park Eoad. The committee stated that five acres would be sufficient for the requirements of the agricultural classes /or the'next two or three years. A resolution was passed authorising the leasing of tho area in question, and it was decided to sub-let that portion which was not required. The director of the Technical School Teliorled that the iiew term had commenced on Monday with an increased roll of 38, making the total number of individual students -148. of whom 238 were paying pupils. On tho director's recommendation Miss Burgess was appointed an instructor in shorthand, in placo of Miss Burden, who had resigned. In connection with High School matters, the board resolved to convene a meeting of thb sub-committee within a few days for Hie purpose of discussing the matter of extensions to the Boys' Hostel. Mr. AY. H. Scott wrote, _ resigning as assistant master, lie having accepted an appointment at Greymouth. The newlyappointed rector, Mr. J. Murray, reported that there were now 227 boys and 150 girls attending the school. Tho number of boarding scholars was 3D, as many as there, was accommodation for.
Mr F. J. Nathan, of Palmerston North, leaves shortly on a visit to Australia, and he expects to.bo absent for about threo months.
