ANOTHER BALLOT TO BE''TAKEN,
A speoial "stop-work" meeting of members of the Wellington Waterside Workers' Union was held at 8 o'clock yesterday moriiing, Mr. L. Glover presiding. There was a large attendance of members, and the business of the meeting, which lasted an hour, was to receive the report of the union's delegates who attended a- conference with the employers concerning an increase in wages. After hearing the report it wa6 decided to take another ballot in order to decide as to whether the new agreement should bo accepted or not. Tho ballot will be taken on Thursday and Friday next. The nien resumed work atjl o'clock yesterday morning, but the vet 'weather interfered somewhat with the progress! .
STOP-WORK MEETING AT LYTTELTON. By Telegraph-Press Association. Christchurch, May 19. The waterside workers at Lyttelton held a stop-work meeting to-day to consider the proposal from the employers regarding the present wages dispute, 'fhe, matter was fully discussed, and it was decided to conduct'a ballot to-mor-row and on, Wednesday. The men,; however, will not cease work for the purpose of voting. ,The indications from the tone of the meeting were that a settlement will be effected. . ; ,
