DEADLOCK ON MILITARY POLICY ■ (Rec. May 18, 5.5 pan.) Warsaw, May 17. A grave crisis has arisen, in Poland owing to the Diet refusing to support M. Paderewski's Paris pledge to cease the offensive on the East Galician front. General Pilsudski, the coiumander-in-chief, supported it. Paderewski. In view of the latter securing Mr. Hoover's (the American Pood ControHer) assurance that Poland would be fed, financed, and supplied with raw materials, General Pilsudski cancelled his arrangements for an offensive. The Diet repudiated the Paris negotiations and compelled Pilsudski to reissue the order to ' attack. Thoreupon M. Paderewski resigned. It is ; probable that the public will support M. Paderewski when the importance of Mr. Hoover's negotiations has been revealed. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
