REPATRIATION OF MAORI SOLDIERS
Since the return of the Pioneer (Maori) Eiittnlion, a suggestion has been maclo that special repatriation boards should dea] with the Native soldiers. Representatives of the Maoris have stated that they do not think the needs of the Maori soldiers ivill be understood by tho ordinary boards. The Ministerial Repatriation Board has decided that the Maori eoldiere, as members of the New "Zealand Expeditionary Force, shall come within tho scope of the ordinary repatriation boards. But in order that Native interests may bo safeguarded, Maori members, preferably returned Maori soldiers, aro to bo nlacod upon the district boards and local committees. The following returned Maori soldiers have ken appointed already:— Wellington District Repatriation Board —Captain Tallivi, Otaki. Levin Honorary Committee—Lieutenant Horo Karanti, Ohau. Palmerston North Local CommitteeLieutenant Karkeek, Levin. Marton Honorary Committee—Corporal Ransfi Mariimarn, Bulls. Wangamii Local Committee.—Lieutenant Mete Kingi, Wangniiui. Te Kuiti Honorary Committee--Lieu-tenant T. IT.etot, Te Kuiti. Te Airnin'iitu Hoiioraiy Committee— Li'"ilennnl J[. ¥. .Tones, To Kuiti. Hamilton Local Committee—Mr. Tony Ormsby, Te Kuiti Thamps Houoi'ary Committee—Mr. H. P.oora ) .-Thanies. It is anticipated that the appointment' of Maoris to district boards and local committees for tho Southern and Northern Maori districts will bo made next week. . •.. ■ . ..'
