SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
A successful concert was sjiven by Mrs. E, Patterson before a very krge audience ut the Sailors' Mend Society oil Tuesday, when encores wero the order of tho evening. The performers wtre:—Mrs. Pattorson, the Misses Monkman, J. Lewis, M'lCeau, Bennic, E. Clapp, and Messrs. Armstrong, Ridding, Vincent (Tainui), and C'olven (Hemuera). The Misses E. Clapp, J. Lewis, Griffiths, and M'Kcan were at the piano. "On the Waterwagon" was the title of Mr. Moore's address. Pledges followed. The full port lias meant largely-increased attendances, and Tuesday's competitions 'were of an exciting kind. The prizes were sent by Mrs. Fletcher (the hostess) and Mis<* Lewis, and went to the men of the Taii.ui, Whnkntan?, Remuern. and Northumberland. A vote of thanks was responded to by Mrs. Patterson.
