GENERAL RUSSELL
ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-MORROW'S RECEPTION. : The arrangements for the reception to Mnjor-Gencral Sir Andrew Russell, K.C.8., K.C.M.G., A.D.C., Commander of the Now Zealand Division, were announced by Defence Headquarters yesterday. General Russell, accompanied by Lady Russell, will leave' the Midland Hotel at 11 a.m. to-morrow, and, escorted by returned soldiers, will drive through the principal streets of the city to the town Hall, where ho will be received by the Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James Allen, K.C.8.), members of Cabinet, His Worship the Mayor, (Mr. J. P. Luke, L.M.&.), ami the civic authorities. The route to'be.followed will be Lambton Quav, Lower Willis Street, Upper Willis Street, Vivian Street, Cuba btrcct, Manners Street, Lower Willis Street, Mercer Street, main entrance to Town Hall. The returned soldiers will provide the guard of honour at the Town Hall, ami an artillery salute will bo fired irom the saluting battery at General Headquarters, Mount Cook, as the general arrives at the Town Hall. The public reception at the Town Hall will commence at noon. His AVorship the Mayor is askin? the citizens to display as much bunting as possible, to line- the route, and to releaso returned soldiers in their employ in order that they may take part in the reception to their general. ' The guard of honour at Major-General Russell's reception will be comprised ofreturned men, Major Gascoigne being in charge. A parade is to be. held at the Drill Hall, Buckle Street, to-night at 7.31! o'clock, when rifles will be issued.
