SCHOOL COMMITTEES' ASSOCIATION
The annual meeting of Hie Wellington School Committees' Association was held on Monday. Air: A. G. Wallace presided over a good attendance of delegates. The annual report as presented to the householders' meetings was adopted.' The chairman made special mention, of the resolution ■ icquestins that the educational grant should'be increased to and pointed out. that, while it was necessary that the grant should bo increased, it was absolutely imperative that the Government 'should obtain the best brains possible, as tiio war of tho i'ufciue Vould bo a commercial war, and tho foundation of a commercial training must be "true and well laid." in our primary schools. The election of officers resulted as follows : — President, Mr. A. G. Wallace j(Kilbiniie), .re-elected; vice-presidents, Messrs. Urcnton-Eulo (Ngaio), h. i. Collie (Island Bay), K.'T. Bailey (Berhampore); lion, secretary, Mr. A. J. White (Brooklyn), re-elected; linn, treasurer, Mr. E. B. S. Hill (Brooklyn), reelected; publicity officer, Mr. E. I. Bailey; representative on Technical College, Mr. A. Or. Wallace. The following resolutions were adopted: "That the ■executive be , recommended to move in the direction of obtaining- additional ground for the proposed Technical College site." "That it.be a recommendation to the school committees that every endeavour should be made to inaugurate the echenio whereby scholars attending school could be supplied with hot drinks.'' , Tho To Aro School Committee wrote signifying its intention, of joining the association. Tho charman urged upon ■members tho desirability of endeavouring to link up the one or two outstanding committees.
