MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE THE AUCKLAND-WELLINGTON MATCH The Management Committee of tho Wellington Rugby Union met last night. Present: Messrs. W. F. Hornig (in the .chdir), J. K, Millard, G. Jackson, (j. H. Reynolds, E. Perry, H. Buck, W. W. Cook, J. Lundon, E. H. Ward, and A, J. Griffiths. The Petone Club notified that it could not enter a senior team for a seven-a-side-match with Poneke during the peace celebrations, the reaEon being that it had arranged for another match. It waß deckled that Athletic be.- asked to take tho place of Petone. Arthur Parker, a member of the Petone Club, who was suspended last seaeon for failing to report to a request to attend a meeting ot the committee to explain what happened in the AucklandWellington match, appeared at the. meeting and said that he had never previously been notified to attend. Regarding tho Auckland match, ho was sure that the late Mr. Weir had given instructions that "amended" rules were to be played. Members expressed the opinion that Parker was confused with what was said before the Canterbury match, but he maintained' that lie was under no misapprehension. Parker said-that he had never been officially asked to attend a meeting of the union. After the Auckland match he had played in two cup matches. The chairman said that the secretary of ihe Petone Club had been written to asking for the attendance of the Petone. members of the representative tam. He 'considered that Parker had treated the union with' discourtesy, and that an apology was .due from him for failing to attend a meeting of the committee be-, fore. Parker said he'did not feel inclined to express regret, as he had not been notified to attend the union. He was not there because- he wanted to play football, but in tho interests of the Petone Club. Mr. -Reynolds, a member of tho Petone Club', advised Parker to , alter his attitude and thus let the matter drop.. . In connection with the same match, R. B. E.berhardt, a member of the Wellington representative team,' wrote explaining that he had been unable to attend a meeting on account of pressure of work. He apologised for not beins able to appear, and said that ho told Mr. Weir nfter tho match that ho knew of no agreement, except that he was told' on the field not to charge kicks. It was decided that Eberhardt'a suspension should be removed at once, and that Parker's suspension should also be removed after one playing Saturday. C. Spearman, a member of the Ber: hampore Club, who was ordered off'the field last ,Saturdav in the junior match with Petone for allegedly questioning the ruling of the referee, attended the meeting, and said he had not addressed any words to the referee. What ejaculation he did make was general, and was not intended to apply to anybody. It was decided' that Spearman should be allowed to go on playing until such time as a report was received from tho referee.' The Oriental Club were granted permission to enter another fourth-grade team.' ' . It was decided that the Poneke fourthclass team should, play Wellington at Lyn.ll Bay No. 2 on Saturday. The committee also resolved that the Terrace School "should play Petone District High School on Athletic Park No. 2 on Saturday, tho Poneke-Berhnmpore fifth-clnss match having been transferred to Duppa Street No. 4. L. E. Brooker was granted permission to transfer from Railway Club to Victoria College Club. Tho New Zealand Engineers Railway Battalion Club were granted- leave to play Wangnnui Battalion at Palmerston North on .Tune 3, subject to the usual conditions being complied with. A donation of .£2 t*. from Mr. ,T. P. Firth, for tho I). D. Weir Memorial Fund, was acknowledged.
