DISTURBANCE AT SLING CAMP

e CHARGE. OF MISMANAGEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 12. Reference was niado by one of tho officers who returned by the Northumberland to tho disturbance at Sling' Camp in' March last.. He stated that'no Auckjanders were concerned in the riot, iiiul .that .shortly before the double commence'i the Auckland .Battalion was removed to another camp on Lark Hill, about three miles away, becatiso of tho large number of men arriving at Sling. One.of the; chief causos of dissatisfaction 'among the mcii at Sling was that many soldiers who recently.arrived from New Zealand, nnd'had never been in France, wore given preference over tho men who had been on active service for a considerable time in the matter of returning to New, Zealand. A great deal of mismanagement had taken place in regard to tiie embarkation of New Zealandeis. Men were, instructed to embark on a certain ship," and on tho eve of doing 6b were given fresh' instructnns. They were naturally greatly disappointed. .
