PEACE CELEBRATIONS
PROCESSION COMMITTEE MEET. •The first meeting of the Procession Committee in connection with the coming peaeo celebrations was hold in the Chamber of Commerce last evening. Mr. W. H. P. Barber was elected chair. man. „ . , , Representatives.of the following trades and organisations were present :— women s National Reserve, New Zealand Army Nursing' Service, friendly societies, Master Bakers' Union, soft goods establishments, Government Printing Office, Port Nicholson Yacht Club, Working Men's Club, tho Wellington Gas Company, and tho Veterans' Association Tho suggestion that the various friendly societies represented should meet and arrange what'part they wquld take in the proceedings was adopted, as also was the proposal that"'the master drapers should be asked to undertake the arrangement of tho tableaux to represent each of the Allied nations which had participated in the war. It was deoided to offer a small pnzo for tho best display in tho procession. Entertainment Committee A progress report was made by Mr. Blaricfford on the work done to date. He mentioned that Mr. Marcus .Marks and Mr. Norman Aitkcn, representing the Eastbourne Savage Club and "Charleys Aunt" Club respectively, had, arranged for open-air performances to be given by six parties of vocalists in five diflerent parts of the city, viz,, Coiirtenay Place, Albert Hotel Corner, "Evening Post, Bank of New Zealand Corner, and the Post Offico Square. The manager of the Bristol Piano Company had signified his willingness to provide six pianos m connection with the performances Mr. Bickerton, - who is supplying the fireworks in connection with the celebrations, gave particulars of the most suitable kinds df fireworks for the pro6ion and the aquatic display. The secretarv was instructed to prepare a schedule setting out the estimated expenditure of the various committees
