HOTELS OPEN ON SATURDAY
in overseas ship landed a draft of returning soldiers at Wellington on Saturday, but the Government did not order as usual that the hotels bo closed, and they remained open for the salo of liquor for tho whole, of the day.
The Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James Allen), when asked about the matter, said that on advice he had received he determined not to close tho hotels on Saturday to sec what tho effect would be. Ho would receive a report in due conrso on tho result of the experiment, and until ho had received that report,' l.e would not be in a position to say what would be done in future.
