OPERA HOUSE COMPANY
: THIRTY-FIEST ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Wellington Opera Houso Company, Ltd., was held yesterday, the chairman of directors, Mr. W. H. P. Barber, presiding. The chairman stated that the small margin of profit was. due to the exceptional conditions arising out of the war. He added that the earnings of the comvany during the- war period had been restricted probably more than any other undertaking, and mentioned the difficul"ties of sea ■transit and the dearth of theatrical companies. He also alluded to the fact that tho company had to pay an additional iMO per annum in hind and income tax, compared with pre-wn figures, but said that with the. end ot tho war and peace conditions in sight this would probably be reduced. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, and a furtlior dividend of 3 per cent, (making the usual "6 per cent, for the year) was decided upon on the recommendation of the directors. . . The retiring directors, Messrs. h. wlmor and J. H. Flockton, were re-olected, as were tho auditors, Mr. W. C. Stephens and Mr. E. Bueholz, at last years remuneration. , i
