A floating mine was observed drifting towards Sunderland Harbour recently, and efforts to secure, it were unsuccessful. Fortunately, instead of driving into the harbour, tho mine struck the beach near nemlon Dock, where it exploded with a loud report. The big gate in the old nior and houses in several adjaoont streets were damaged, all tho windows being broken and the roofs in 6,0m0 case damaged. One man was hurt about the head.
