ALLEGED . DEDUCTION DEMED. (By Telegraph—Speoial Correspondent.) - Wanganui, May li. At a meeting of tho Wanganui Chamber of Commerce, the Woolbrokers' Association, replying to statements mado at the last meeting of the Wellington IWvincial Executive of the 'New Zeliland ..Farmers' Union, emphatically- denied tho allegation that 2lb. per bale was deducted from each bale in additioh to the ordinary deductions for tare' and draft. As, a matter of fact, it was stated that the conditions of employment of the woolbrokers by the' New Zealand Government specifically precluded all possibility, of the brokers making any further profit tttan tliat allowed by the regulations. ' If it were the custom or practice of tho brokers to . make this reduction (which is not the case), no benefit could accrue to the brokers by reason of the fact that the. woight on of sale to the owner is identical with tlie weight produced- to the buyer, so that if such an allowance. wero made it would benefit the buyer, not tho broker, 'i'lio general practice 'of brokers 'was to weigh tho wool on entry into store, and these weights wero tho weiglits which were invoiced to the Government • account. The wool • -was woiglied to the ounce, the buyer being given the benefit of fractions.
