TUG-O'-WAR
The tug-of-war progressed a further stage last evening at Sydney Street Hall, when two more contests were completed after they had gone the full five minutes. Duffy's team met Sergeant AVade's team, and after a close contest Wade's men won with an advantage of 5 inches. Karon defeated Clark's team,-the final advantage being 8 inches in favour of the winners.' The draw' for the semifinals, to be pulled to-nialit, resulted as follows:—Wade's team to pull Marshall's, Karori to pull Petone. The final will be pulled on Thursday evening. A special feature last qvening was the meeting of the Wellington and Petone heavyweight teams, which scaled 03st. 51b., and 65st. lib. respectively. After pulling for a minute and a half Petone won. Tho bazaar and tug-of-war will conclude to-morrow evening. There will be a bazaar matinee this afternoon, when the special feature, will bo u tug of war contest between the Tasmnn Street and . Hawkestone Streot schoolboys.
