RUGBY FOOTBALL
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. The Management Committee of tho Wellington Rugby Union met last evening, Mr. AV. F. Hornig being in the chair. Also present were: Messrs. J. W. Millard, A. J. Griffiths, W. W. Cook. 'E. H. Ward, H. Buck, J. Lundon, E. Porry, G. Jackson, J. Prendeville, and T. H, Jones (secretary). Permission was given tho Hutt Club to withdraw its senior team from the competition. , Selwyn Club ( was also allowed to 1 withdraws- its junior team, and permission , was granted the Railway Battalion to withdraw its fourth-class team. The withdrawals in each case were consequent upon a shortage of players. Senior fixtures for Saturday next are as follow Wellington v. Pctono (Dr. A. F. R. Crawford), at Athletic Park No. 1; University v. Poneke (Mr. H. Roberts), fit Athletic Park No. 2; Selwyn v.'Athletic (Mr. L. Simpson), at Duppa Street Park; Oriental v. Old Boys (Mr. J. S. King), at Duppa Street Park. Fixtures for May 17 were decided as follow:—Athletic v. Poneke, at Athletic Park No. 1; Selwyn v. Oriental, at Athletic Park No.' 2; Wellington v. University, at Duppa Street Park; Old Boys v. Pctono, at Petone. In connection with the Wellington-Old Boys match on Saturday last, T. R," Brooks (Wellington Club), who. .was ordered off during the gamp, attended, and Save his version of tho affair. He said that he had been hit by another player, hut denied that ho had retaliated. The chairman pointed out that no report of tho affair had been; received from the referee, but tho committee would havo to consider tho matter. It was moved by 11 r. Griffiths and 'seconded by Mr. Perry that Brooks be permitted to play till such timo as a report is received from tho referee. The motion was carried. It was decided to provide a ball for the Upper Hutt School. it was decided not to take any action in respect of tho application of the Athletic Club for the removal of the suspension imposed on one of the club's players. Mr. E. H. Ward, !he Schools Union representative, requested permission for the best school's match to be played on the Athletic Park as a curtain-raiser to the senior fixtures each Saturday. This was unanimously agreed to. It was also decided, on the application of Mr. Ward, to grant the use of the Athletic Park on Friday . afternoons to the Schools' Union. In connection witli llie injuries received by players at Duppa Street .on Saturday last the secretary pointed out there was no ambulance man present on the ground. It was decided to write lo St. / John Ambulance Society, and request them to arrange for the attendance of a first-aid mau at Duppa Street I'ark. ' It was intjmated to the meeting by Mr. Prcndeyille that there was every prospect of the General Manager of the New Zealand Railways (Mr. I?. W. M'Villy) putting on a-'train for footballers journey in? .to the Hutt and leaving Lambton Station at 2.15 p.m. oil Saturdays. This arrangement may come info operation on Saturday week. Appreciation was expressed at the action of the referees in sending in their results so early on Saturday evenings.
