SHIPPING ACCIDENT
-e ' LIGHTER'SUNK IN COLLISION. By Telegraph-Press Association. Napier, April 29. A shipping accident occurred in tho roadstead this morning, when the lighter Agnes Martin, laden with 151 casks of tallow belonging to Bortliwick and S.ons, struck tho liner Kaikoura head' on. The lighter apparently opened up a seam, a.\ she commenced to settle nt the bows, and finally toppled over on to her side and almost disappeared. The orew escaped in a small bout. The lighter was takenin tow by Richardson and Co.'s vessels and taken to the Glasgow Wharf, where she will be' lightered an.d then placed on the slip for repairs. A quantity of tallow broke looso after the vessel toppled over, and in all 70 casks have been recovered. A number are still afloat in the sea and in the lighter.
