DISTRICT PRIZE MATCHES AT WANGANUI (By Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, April 26. During the past lew days the Cadets in the Wellington provincial district have lieun competing' in rille .shouting at Waligiinui. The meeting concluded tci-day, when the championships were fired. The Senior Cadet c-liampion, after an interesting contest, proved tu be Cadet J). W. iMalcolmson. of 30-85 Company, with a score of ■Iβ. The winner lock the Senior Cadet district championship challenge belt, presented by group and area ollicers of the Wellington military district, to be held tor omi year, a gold medal presented by -Messrs. J. llaiTHon, of Wniiganui, and £1 in cash, 'the second prize was n trophy presented by Colliiison and Son, I'almerston North, and .1:1 ill cash. The third prize was a trophy, presented by Mr. IS Park, of ■Palmerstou .North,, and 15s. in cash. Twenty-three other prizes were distributed mnong Hie. competitors. They won the championship challenge shield Heisonizii I. r tl.o \ynii|(aiiiii Licensed Victuallers' Association, and a gold medal for. each of the members .of .the team; The winners of the second prize, „£!! in cash, were the Linton liille Club, which scored 192. The No. 7 .linilivriy Engineers divided the third prize of £2 for a score of 188, while a team froni' Trentham Camp, with a score of 187, divided the fourth prize of •Gl. No. G Group team, which scored 187, was counted out. The district championship proved a. most interesting match, for which seventeen competitors were eligible. The ranges were 500 and GOO yards, Old were shot villi a light rain falling and a light, tricky wind, the scores made in this match were added to the aggregate scores made in previous matches. Lieutenant C. P. Worley, Wanganui College, ran out the winner with an aggregate score of 17G. Only one or two points separated the winner from seco.nl and third, both of whom were, Senior Cadets. Cadet W' D Hunter, No. 55 Company, was second, and drew £2 in cash; Cadet D. 1 ,7 . Mnlcolmson, 30-35 Company, came third, with £\ 10s. in cash. Franklin, 10s. Sergeant Hester won a silver teapot, presented to tlie competitor making the highest score in the teams match, his Fi'orc being 481 Cadet H. R. Purser, \Vanftimni College, won the silver medal presented by Lieutenant Fisher, of r'eilding; to the Senior Cadet making tjio highest aggregate score in the servico matches, Cadet series.

SUBURBS CLUB. The Suburbs fired the fourth match of the fourth series for club trophies. This shoot , concluded the season's matches, with the exception of tho annual class firing, which will bo carried out next Saturday. Tho winner of this last series was Rifleman A. H.irris, with a score of 331 points, Eifleman A. Jtoljamoro second with 330 points. Tho following aro Saturday's scores (ranges, 500 and 700 yards, 21 • shots): — Pres. Smartv is—l4—scr,—S9; G. Jlfcthews, 31— 30-18-88; Boon, 45—12~5cr.-87; A. Harris, 42—42—scr.—8-1; A. Bpllamore, 38—44 -ser.—B2; J. Tioss, 45—37—scr.—82; J. Longman, 35—37 —8—80; W. Cropp, 35-30 —10-81; B. Dunn, 41—39-acr.—SO; pres. Follingham. 44—35"—etr.—79; W. Spencer, 43-32-4-79. . The following is the result of the fourth series for club trophies (all i-hoots to count}:—A. Harris. 331 points; A. Bellamore, 330 points; J. Ross, 326 points; W. Cropp, 323 points. A novelty competition and one which excited considerable interest wns the fire fight, in which teams of four opposed each other. -The conditions were that the teams at the word of command, ran fifty yards to the firing point, lay down, loaded, and opened fire on four silhouette figures, the team which succeeded in knocking down oil its' figures first being the winners. This competition was keenly contested, the winning team being No. 4G Company, Huntorville Cadets, No. 114 Company, Technical School, FeiUUnp. gaining second place, New Plymouth High School Cadet*, third, Wonganui Collegiate School Cadets, fourth. At one stage of the cbmoetition the letter team put up a remar.kab\e performance in getting their figures-down in 15?sec-., which will be conceded by rifle enthusiasts as a record for Cadets, and one even for a -more experienced beam to be proud of. In the final shoot-off, howeverthe Feildiiifr Cadets had to strike their colours to No.. 4G Company, Hunterville, who shot most consistently all through.
