PEACE CELEBRATIONS
ON SIGNING OF PRELIMINARIES. ' Cabinet has decide<l that the peace celebrations in New Zealand shall bo held>on the signing of the preliminary peace.' This means .that if the Germans sign the document which-has been prepared for,them by tho Peace Conference, which has been sitting in Paris for fiomo weeks, the celebrations in New Zealand will be held a few days afterwards. The Government was at first in doubt as to whether the celebrations should bo held on Iho signing <jf the preliminaries) or whether lliey should be deferred until tho permanent treaty . documents aro signed, by tho' representatives of the Powers, and our Government has sought information from Britain as to what is being done there. No replies have bees received to repeated inquiries, and ia view of -the'necessity rf deciding quickly the Government has made ilie decisiou now. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S DEC! SION. Melbourne, April 25.
