MAGISTRATE'S COURT
<v POLICE CASES. - Mr. F. V. Frazer, S.M., .presided over yesterday's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. ■ On a charge of stealing a suit of clothes valued at M 10s., the property of Allnn Wilson, Charles Arthur Teague was, on the application of the police, remanded till May 1. Bail was allowed in the sum of «£25, and one surety of .£25. Patrick Daly, who had 99 previous convictions against him, was fined .£l, and ss. expenses, for failing to pay his tram fare. On 'charges'of beine drunk and obstructing Conductor David James Stewart, he was convicted and discharged. A fine of £" was imposed on Guy Cockburn for a breach of his prohibition order, and on a charge of drunkenness he was convicted and ■ discharged. For drunkenness James Troy was fined 10s. A CAERIEPv'S CLAIM.. ' William Ilenry Macfarlane, carrier, of Karori. proceeded against J. R. Baker, tram conductor, for the recovery of .£1 Bs. for carriage of goods. Defendant admitted liability for the sum of 3s. for tho carriage of luggage to Thorndon Station, but questioned'the plaintiff's right to charge as much,as 255. for the carrying of furniture from Karori to a house in Pitama Streot His Worship said that defendant had entered into an agreement for 285., and judgment would be for plaintiff for the aiiiount claimed, and costs 6s. ) .
