ANZAC DAY
PROCESSION AND MEMORIAL SERVICE. A bi" parade of returned soldiers has been arranged for Friday, Anzao Day. The soldiers will assemble at the. corner of Grey Street and Lambton Quay at 2.15 and march to the Town Hall, where a memorial sen-ice will be held at 3 p.m. The officer commanding the parade will be Lieutenant-Colonel J. G. Hughes, CM G. Tho officiating clergy at the niomorial service will be:-Canon T. F. laylor, C.F., the Rev. J. G. Wilson, 11'., the Rev. A. A, Bensley, C.F., Captain ' Lieutenant-Colonel W. K. Fyffc will preside at tho organ. A. meeting of heads of drapery firms in the city was held last night, fit which it was decided to take no action regarding tho closins: of their premises on Friday, Anzao Day. SIR- JAMES ALLEN'S APPEAL. The followinc appeal has ;,een issued bv the Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James MUM:—"The Government lias decided that Anril 25, Anzac Day, should bo ol>scrved bv Government Departments as a close holiday. In order that the general public may suitably recognise the memorable occasion, I should be glad if Mayors and heads of other local anconcerned would tho if*v to bo observed as a holiday. ~ ■
