"I don't know where they are going for milk now. They are certainly not going_ to the cow for it," said Mr. Manton in the course of his speech last night, concluding a declaration that there was not enough, milk being obtained by the City Council Committee to supply the needs of the city. At the conclusion of Councillor Barber's address at Kelburn last evening, the chairman invited Councillor W.' H. Bennett, deputy-chairman of the City Council's Milk Committee, to say something, about the milk scheme. Councillor Bennett said that the committee was oommencing to-night a campaign in, the course of which it would visit the suburbs and give a fair statement of what it had done. He wotild reserve his ' statements till later. He wished to explain why he.and other.councillors had supported Councillor Barber's candidature. They had done so because Mr. Luke, by misleading the council, had induced four councillors to aspire to the mayoral chair. Those councillors bad jhad enough public spirit to put themselves in the hands of the council, and the council had chosen Councillor Barber for the services he had given to the city in the past.
