Referring to the last war loan the Acting-Minister of Finance stated that all'the amounts taken up by subscribers in connection witli the .£10.000,(100 Vic* torv War Loan would be taken into consideration in respect of the operation of the compulsory clauses of the.,l'inance 4ct He added:' "As subscriptions are now being received by the Treasury it is not considered necessary to fix a definite date for the closing of the loan. There is a large amount of money available tor investment, as the banking figures dis. closed'at the end of last quarter, and 1 anticipate a fairly large subscription being received by the Treasury this month." . , "I want at the same tune to stress the face," said the Minister, "that there must be no doubt that those who do not discharge their duty by taking up he necessary amount prescribed,, b>, tne Finance Acf of lost year will come under be compulsory clauses of the Act, which will certainly he put into oneration for anjr who attempt to shirk their responsibility." ______
