The Hon. W. H. Hemes is expected back from Auckland to-day. The Hon. D. H. Guthrie has returned from his extensive tour of the North Island. Surceon-General B. S. P. Henderson, Director-General pf Medical Services, is at present on a visit to Duncdin. He will probably return to Wellington on Friday next.' Prior to leaving for England. General Henderson will be farewelled by the Orphans' Club. Brigadier-General H. E. Hart, C.M.G., D.S.Q., who.returned to New Zealand by the Corinthic, upon returning to Carterton (probably on Saturday) will be welcomed by the townspeople at the station. The following week an organised demonstration will be held, and both he and the returned soldiers of the district will be tendered a welcome in tho Carterton Showgrounds. Mr. Horace G. Hunt, Mua. Bac.. son of M. E, Leslie" Hunt, of Mount Eden, .Auckland, has cabled that he has arrived in London. Mr. Horace G. Hunt was in Berlin when war was .declared, and was interned in the civilian camp at Kuhlo.ben for over four years. Mr. Peter Isbis'ler, son of Mr. and Mrs. lobisler, of Island Bay, who was among those taken prisoner when the German raider Wolff captured the Wairuna, returned to Auckland yesterday as an oflieeron the hospital ship Maheno. Mr. J. D. C. Crewe has been re-elected Mayor of Pahiatua, The City Engineer (Mr. W. H, Morton) left for Auckland to ]oin tho, Niagara (for America) on Good Friday. Mrs. Morton is at-present yisiting friends in Duuedin. The Eev. Canon Fieldentfaylor. who has been acting temporarily at St. Peter's for the Rev. Mr. Watson, who has been chaplain on a hospital ship, preached his last sermon, for the time being at any rate, at St. Peter's, on Sunday last. Before leaving for Greyniouth, to which place he has been appointed, be will spend a fortnight at Trentham. The funeral of the late Mr. Hercules Davidson took place at Karori. The, officiating clergyman was the Rev. William Shire'r. Prior to the funeral a special service was conducted at St. James s Presbyterian Church, Wellington South. The Railway Department, of which the late Mr. Davidson was formerly chief accountant, was largely represented. Ihe Rev. Mr. Shirer was assisted by the Rev. J, Paterson and the Rev. Dr. Elliott. Dr. Gibson, Medical Officer and Stipendiary 'Magistrate at the Chatham Islands, is spending a holiday in New Zealand. Corporal Oliver Evans, M.M., is returning in the Corinthic. His period of military service covers four and a half years, a portion of which was spent in Egypt. Last August, when tho New Zealand Division was actively engaged, Corporal Evans, who had jtist been recommended for a cpinmission, was wounded while in the gonune trenches. Prom there his transference to -ono of the English hospitals across tlie Channel was followed by gradual recovery.
