SturtiiiK from Suedia, south of Alejandr.otta, (lie canal would follow the Nahr-el-A.'i to Antinoh, and would Ilipu run in an excavated channel past Aleppo to the Euphrates, which it would join at Khalat Balis, Hie total loneth frnn Suedia to Fao beinp; about 9GO miles. The author of the scheme, Jf. Gustavo Defosse, has been engnstcd in working it put for many years, some of them spent in Brussels while it was in German occupation.
