Sir James Allen is at Rotorua this morning. He will join the train for Wellington this afternoon, and he vill arrive back here to-morrow.
The Hon. A. SI. Myers, Acting Miwstcr of Finance, with Mrs. Myers, left yesterday for Auckland. He will be absent from Wellington for about a week.
The Hon. T. 31. Wilford, Minister of Justice, is recovering from his slight indisposition, and he will be back in his office to-day. Captain T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P., has returned to Wellington, after a. visit to Westland. Colonel D. J. Jl'Gavin, D.S.O. (late' D.M..5., New Zealand Division), is a passenger on the Renmera, due at the end of next woek. He is to take up the position of Director of Medical Services (at least temporarily), vies General Henderson, who is returning to England. Major V. C. Kemp, M.C., a brother to Dr. Kemp, of Wellington South, is coming out to New Zealand by the Remuera, due here in about ten days' time. The Rev. A. M. Johnson, vicar of St. Paul's, has liwn appointed archdeacon of the Diocese of Wellington, in succession to the late Archdeacon Fancourt. Mr. B. P. Rish worth, Mayov of Ixiwer Hutt, is seeking re-election. Mr. A. Atkins, of Messrs. Atkins, Bucon ,aud Mitchell, architects, is at present seriously ill at his home in Kelbura. Jlr. Atkins caught a chill a few days ago and this led to pneumonia. Mr. J. C. Deceased, who was 77 years of age, was chairman of the Permanent Investment Society for thirly-niiic years, and formerly chairman and secretary of the old llosoital Committee. Lady Russell of Havke's Bay, has returned home from u trip to Wellington. Her husband, General Sir Andrew Enssnll, late Officer CtHtimnndins: tlieNew Zealand Division in Prance, is a passenger by the Arawa, due at Lyttelton earty next month.
An Auckland Press Association telegram states that Mr. J. Buttle, who will shortly complete 45 years of service with the New Zealand Insurance Company, has tendered his resignation of the general managership. Mr. H. P. TCiselinv. manager of the Auckland branch, hai been appointed general manager. The change will take effect on November 30.

The appointment, of Mr. L. A. Stringer io the -position of Eeswtrar of Canterbury College in succession to Mr. G. IT.
