Appended are additional vcporta of election- results in connection with the annual meetings of householders on Monday evening:— , Kilbirnie.
Only a moderate number of householders attended the annual meeting at tho Kilbirnie School. . The work of the School Committees' Association was highly commended, and its resolutions were endorsed. The. following committee was elected:—Messrs. A. G.- Wallace (chairman), T. Gillespie (secretary), J. J. Clark, A. G. Jorgensen, G. M. Julius, C. J. Lovatt, C. F, Worth, J. G. Marshall, F. Robinson. .~. '
Wadestown, Mr. H. Owen presided over the Wadestown meeting, which was attended by twenty householders. A vote of thanks was ; passed to the school staff and to the headmaster (Mr. C. E. Joplin), who, it was stated, had corresponded regularly with all his old boys at the front during the whole course of the war. Mr. Joplin acknowledged the help he had received from his staff, and said the school was in a high state of efficiency; \ Much of the credit for this was due to the parents in ensuring regular attendance, and in other ways. Ten nominations were received for the committee, and the following were elected:—Messrs. J. E. Bass,. A. Coles, H. Owen (chairman),'A. Parlane (secretary), W. T. Prince, C. L. Styles, and Mrs. K. Moore,'
Muritai. About 120 people attended the annual meeting at Muritai, Mr. H. Mayer being 1 voted to the-chair. The annual, report', emphasised the crowded condition of the infant room anii the unfair treatment that was accorded both teaoher and class, when one certificated teacher was put. in ..charge of 80 children below, the first standard, with the assistance of a young pupil teacher, only. It went on to inform the 'householders that the Education Board had acquired' an option oyer a large section opposite the school for. site extension; . This action was largely due to the fact that the outgoing committee'had pledged itself to endeavour'to raise ,£2OO locally within tho next year to the board in acquiring the new site. This promise the meeting proceeded enthusiastically to redeem, with result that a list opened in the room was filled in to the.extent of .4105 within a few minutes! The members of the re.tiring committee, who sought re-election,-wero all returned,- and tho now. commit-, tee is'as follow:—Messrs. H. Mayer (chairman),' S. H. Jenkinson (secretary), H. Ahearn (who headed the poll with 81 votes), B. B. Manley, E. T. Wise, S. L. Partridge, E; T. Pearce. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Sanson and his staff,, and to the committee closed the meeting.
Kaiwarra. The meeting at Kaiwarra was well attended. An excellent report was submitted regarding the work of the school. It was shown that out of M pupils who sat for jjroficioncy. certificates 10 were successful. Three pupils secured endorsed' competency certificates, and one secured a competency certificate..
