Tlio menace to stock tho rattle tick is proving in the North Auckland district was discussed by the Waverley branch of tlio Farmers' Union, and it was contended that something should be done at .once to stop the spread erf thwjiost to districts in the south. The tick was liuown to bo at Mercer, and cattle wore br-ini' shipped throuch to the Manaivntu district. It was felt that the Government should take the matter :n hand at once'. Tt was finally resolved: "That tho Agnruiturol Department be asked to immediately take steps to stop the transit of cnttle from areas infested with the cattle tick to clean districts, and that a very litavy penalty be imposed on anyone trying to' transport cattlo from the said area
