Hunter (secretary of the leder. ation of Labour) has received a cation from tho national executive m Auckland, instructing him to bring befoio the Government the motion, passed by the executive: That this body protests against the proposal of the Aibi tration Court to fix basic wages foi skill ed semi-skilled, and unskilled workeis, « indicated by the president m Dnnedtn, and is of opinion that th, principle should not be accepted until the views of Labour have been ascertained at a national conference; at which the P™P°s» l could bo discussed. AVe think the umo opportune for a national industrial conference of representative employers and workers, at which the whole position of industry in New Zealand may bo discussed and proposals formulated on any important matters, including wa <». o *' upon which up to the present the opinions- of those engaged m ® not been ascertained, and that the tiov lernment .be asked tocall this conference as soon as possible.
