CUNARD LINERS GOING TO SOUTHAMPTON

Sir Alfred Booth, chairman of the Ctuiard Company, stated recently that Hie Cunnvd will take the place of the Gorman linos in the Southampton, Cherbourg, and Now York service, and indicated that eventually the Aquitania and Mauretaiiia will* be employed on that route. The Liverpool-New iTork service would, he added, be equipped with steamers of "greater (cargo) carrying capat'tv." For some time reports have been current that the two "monster ships" of tho Cunard—the Aquitania, 145,000 tons (floss) and Matirotania (30,700 tons)— would in future be based on Southampton No doubt the experience the manacoment has gained during the war of the accommodation sometimes provided at Southampton for the great ships has encouraged it to make uso of tho pas-wi.-Kcr facilities of the port.
