' FOR DESERVING WOMEN. London, April 9. Mr. Waldorf Astor, in the House of Commons, stated that the Government accepted the principle of a motion by Mr. Tyson Wilson in favour of State pensions for widows with children, or mothers whoso breadwinners are incapacitated. Ho asked tho House not to commit the Government to an ill-consid-ered scheme or to phraseology which would limit their freedom of action. Tho problem ought to be dealt with as early as possible. He invited concrete proposals which the Government would consider sympathetically—Aus.-N.Z. Cablo Assn.
