BUILDERS' AND GENERAL LABOURERS

« — ■ AWAED AMENDED. The award of the Wellington Builders' and General Labourers' Union, as amended by the Arbitration Court, has been filed in the Supreme Court. The new award j.iovides that building trades' labourers engaged on the actual construction of scaffolds are to nccive not less than Is. -lid. an hour; labourers assisting in the erection or demolition of scaffolds or buildings to receive not less than Is. 3.U1. per hour; Inborn ere working as tunnelmen and hunlnTiuen, Is. 3Jd.; quarry work, Is. 3}d.; working underground or employed at concrete worl;; pick and .shovel work, stiver work, tailing and channelling,- 'laying and cleauinpr drains and asphalt and tar work, Is ?id. In addition there is provision for n bonus of 2.U1. per hour. All time worked in excess of the or I i nary time ; s to lie paid for at tho uiie of time and ti half for tho first three hours, with double time thereafter. In the oase of builders' labourers' work 'Irne on Sunday, New Year's Day, Good Friday, faster Monday, Labour Day, Christmas Day, | or Boxing Day is to bo paid for at tho rate of double time, and in the ease of general labourers work done 011 Good luridly, Christinas Day or Sunday, is to be so paid for, while work done on any other holiday is lo .be paid for at tho rate of time and a half.
