MEETING OP THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. A meeting of the Wellington Bowling >. Centre was ' hold last evening. There were present: Messrs. Wf C. Cooper (Karori), in the chair, S. H. Underwood (Newtown), J. J. Roberta (Upper Hutt), W. U. Morrah (Lyall Bay), V.Dimock (Thorndon), E. J. Hill (To Hiwi), J. Keith (Victoria), Robertson (Petone), Hi Ballinger (Island Bay), J. Muir (Otaki), G. Bradley (Sealoun), A. Wjlie (Wellington), Jacobs (Johnspnville), and E. Meadowcroft (Kelburn). A letter was received from Mr. Thomas Haldane, who wroto on behalf of the. Nelson, Blenheim, Maitai, and Wakefield Clubs, thanking the centre for the excellent arrangements made to provide such good and enjoyable games during their 'stay in Wellington, and for the hospitality extended to them. In connection with tho abovo letter a motion was passed thanking the Wellington Club for its generosity iu allowinu the centre the v use of a room, and for the hospitality ' . generally extended to the visitors. The matter of Sunday play during part of a tournament held in Auckland, was tho subject of a letter from the Domin-, ion Association, which stated that in deference to some visitors a game was ■. \ played on a Sunday. On the motion-of • N Mr. F. Meadowcroft, seconded by Mr. J. Keith, it was resolved to protest against any Sunday play in connection with any tournament held under the aus.' pices of the association. The publication of the passing of this resolution was objected to by Mr. B- ,7. , Hill, who thought it would not tend lo increaso tho good feeling existing between Auckland and Wellington, and he moved that the resolution bo not recorded by the Press. , Mr. J.'Keith said that [the matter, was ono for tho wholo of the howlers of 'the Dominion, and Svns not:a matter between Auckland and Wellington (it all. l Mr. Hill's motion was defeated on a show of hands. Mr. P. Meadowcroft moved that regular monthly meetiiißS of the centre be held.—Carried. v It was also resolved Ibat special meetings of tho centre may bo called the requistion of six delegates. In sneaking to that motion Mr. Meadowcroft said that tho rules of the centre badly needed revising. It was reported that tho balance to credit of tho centro stood at ,£74 9s. 2d. A meeting of tho executive of the centra followed the ordinary centre meeting. Referring to the Flyger Shield and the Gisborno Rose Bowl, Mr.-Keith said that tho centro had : accepted, such trophies and ho was of opinion that the names of tho winners be attached to both -~ trophies, and tho value of both trophiea should ba protected' by insurance. He moved in that direction. Mr. S. H. Underwood seconded the motion. Ho thought the record on the shield was pretty well up to date, but in tho case of the Gisborne Rose Bowl the names of the winners should be attached. Mr. Hill said that the roso bowl should not bo given for tho team scoriug the greatest number of points. That did not represent good bowling. It should rather bo given to the team which "has tho least number of points scored against it. Tho motion was carried. Mr. Hill gave' notice of motion that the roso bowl be awarded to the rink having tho lowest number of points scored against it in the centre tournament. •" Mr. J. Muir said that scoring cards could bo obtained in Auckland free for the asking. • • ( Mr. Roberts said that the rules of the centro forbado them from using cards with advertisements upon them. A bonus of M Is. was allotted to the I caretakers (three) of tliiTgrecns on which the champion of champion games were played. Mr. J. Muir introduced the matter of tho number of members of one club who could act as (relegates on tho centie. Tho rules stated that not moro' than tin ee. members could.act as delegates on the centre, and as he (Mr. Sluir) was rot the last (the fourth) member of the Wellington Club who had been appointed a delegate, he was not prejudiced as a delegate, and yet it had been said at a previous meeting—and it had been published ,in tho Press—that.he had no status as a delegate. Ho produced evidence of his appointment as a delegate for the Otaki. Club, and thought that the statement should be withdrawn. Tho chairnian ruled that Mr. Muir was a delegate.
